Hi, my name is Chris and I started 3Designer.app to help homeowners easily create stunning 3D render online without CG skills in record time!
It all started in the summer of 2020, when we decided to fully renovate our three bedrooms apartment. I searched the web, but struggled to find a good 3D visualization tool. A good app should allow a newbie in CG, like myself, to create a 3D design of the entire apartment quickly and easily.
The Challenges
Even though there are many paid and free 3D planner tools on the web, the challenge was that:
- Advanced 3D apps, like SketchUp, required months of training – a luxury we did not have.
- Free room planner apps were either slow, buggy, unintuitive or lacking customization.
- It was extremely hard to find matching furniture because provided assets were not based on real products.
Having experienced the frustration, I decided to create a new 3D software for the web. It shall be easy to use with little to no learning curve. We want to empower regular homeowners and small businesses with a simple, flexible and powerful 3D configurator. This is because I know that most of you, just like us – are strapped for time!
And while you can hire a professional CG designer to create beautiful 3D visualizations, the process is still very time consuming and expensive. You have to go back and forth many times, before even the most simple design elements, such as textures, can be finalized. And there are hundreds, if not thousands of such elements. A typical renovation or construction project can last for months just in the design phase.
Our Mission
3Designer aims to help DIY enthusiasts create full scale designs of their home in just a few days or weeks. And we plan to integrate it with real product catalogs, such as IKEA, so that you can estimate project cost upfront, and save time shopping. We also handpick the best design ideas to help you with inspiration and budgeting.
This is our humble beginning and 3Designer is still a work in progress. It’s a project that I only get to work on in my free time from the daily job. There is a lot to be done. But having worked as the Lead UI Developer for large companies, such as Vanguard Group and NBN Australia, I’m confident that we will achieve this goal.
